Kokan Mal Ki Haveli

LOCATION: 550, Kucha Pati Ram, Sita Ram Bazaar, Chandni Chowk. 

SIGNIFICANCE: Built 1890 by the father of Shri Kokan Mal Johari, a socially active person, who was the trustee of the Ramlila Committee and of about institutions. He was in the diamond trade, though during the Mutiny, he lost most of his property and business.

EXPLICATION: The haveli is situated on a high platform and has a semi-circular arched sandstone gateway. It has a central courtyard with semi-circular arched rooms on all the sides in the original style of the havelis. The large sandstone frontage is a brilliant piece of architecture. There is an extensive use of sandstone in the construction of this haveli, although, the walls are made up bricks, with a narrow staircase leading to the upper floors.

A customer-oriented businessman, Ankur Kant Gupta is talented and self-determined business leader who is known for his customer centric approach which leaves a lasting impression on each one of his clients. In his illustrious career Ankur has always innovated and infused new ideas into the jewellery trade and been a guide to all around him.

Born in a large respectable joint family of Agra, he was brought-up around variety of people with diversified family businesses. When thinking about his career, this highly ambitious man was thinking of establishing a business so as to offer jobs, not to seek. Due to his passion, alongside studies, started learning about jewellery right in the school days itself and obtained jewellery practical training during the graduation.

Soon after schooling, shifted to Delhi to set-up own jewellery manufacturing unit, since the market opportunity was bigger and better
being the capital of India. Initially, the jewellery was all hand made. A jeweller with a vision, Ankur never lost sight of the foundations of the jewellery industry and built his empire on the tenets of purity and quality, moving from handmade craftsmanship to a fully computerised design. As a jewellery manufacturer and wholesaler his customer base is PAN India. Started with a small rented shop, now owns 3 shops in Delhi Kucha Mahajani which is one of the biggest gold-trading hubs and wholesale jewellery markets in Asia. With his vast experience and leadership recorded a double digit percentage sales growth annually for several years and venturing into niche of eBusiness.

Shikha Gupta

Founder & CEO

From home maker to an entrepreneur, Shikha Gupta was born in an affluent business class family and after two decades of completing family responsibilities, inspired by the unpredictable, ever-evolving world of modern art, she now explores the fluidity of form and function in her imaginative jewellery venture through e-business.

After a conventional academic route comprising a graduation from IP University Delhi, she did a basic programming in computers from IBM and a course in interior designing, followed by a jewellery designing course from Design Academy of India where she was a recipient of best student of academy award. She has always been attracted by colours, cuts, and gems since childhood, loves listening to music, venture out with friends and create memories.

A box of jewellery is similar to a box of happiness, Shikha aims to create fashion-forward jewellery to meet the changing wardrobe of the Indian woman. She takes inspiration from history, world culture, and music and her designs are bold, experimental, distinctive, and aspire to empower the wearer to make a statement wherever they go, changing the landscape of fine jewellery for the current generation. With a thought in mind “Kal ho na ho ☺” plans to make jewellery for all generations, all needs… including for those who don’t usually wear fashion jewellery, but still want to augment their style with something precious.
